Rob Jagodzinski ©Stars and StripesPersian Gulf, October, 1990: A fireball erupts from a 16-inch gun on the USS Wisconsin during an exercise in the Persian Gulf. The Wisconsin, which had been decommissioned in 1958 after seeing action in World War II and the Korean conflict, was returned to service with capabilities for launching Tomahawk missiles in 1988.
