Toynbee, author of the 12-volume "A Study of History," received an honorary degree and spoke to a graduation class that included veterans of D-Day and the Bataan Death Match. He warned that if the U.S. and the Soviet Union didn't find a way to cooperate, "it is certain that by the year A.D. 2000, China, uniting under one government more than half the human rare, will dominate Russia, and the United States, and the rest of us."
