Meet the Top Li’l Tigers, 1961

Seoul, South Korea, July 1961: Men of the U.S. Army Advisory Group, Korea (KMAG), and the Seoul Area Command hoist Il Sung Park on their shoulders in a victory celebration. Park, a 12-year-old orphan, was top vote-getter in South Korea in a contest for Stars and Stripes Pacific’s Top Li’l Tiger newsboy competition, which wound up this week with six winners from throughout the Far East.
