From the archives: The newest crew of the USCG Galveston Island, 2000

Apra Harbor, Guam, November 7, 2000: Coast Guard Seaman Dave Smith scratches Cutter aboard the USCG Galveston Island in Apra Harbor, Guam. The crew of the Guam-based ship rescued the nine month old mixed breed dog after finding it swimming alone outside the harbor as they returned from a trip to nearby Rota in the Northern Marianas last month. Cutter is now the cutter’s mascot.
