From the archives: Sheikhs and citizens speak with US soldiers during a meeting in Iraq, 2007

Al-Jara, Iraq, Nov. 8, 2007: Sheikhs and “concerned citizens” speak with soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment at a neighborhood meeting in Al-Jara, a village about 20 miles southeast of Baghdad. Soldiers say that Sheik Nori Zbar Al-Jaboori, center, has helped lead hundreds of predominantly Sunni citizens to work with mostly Shiite police to drastically curb insurgent attacks.
