Seoul, South Korea, July 16, 1958: An enlistment oath is taken by Women’s Army Corps SFC Ellina Spyker, right, the first “Wac” to reenlist in Korea. The oath is administered by Maj. Gen. Lewis S. Griffing, Eighth U.S. Army chief of staff. Center is SFC Joseph H. Twitty, Seoul Area Command career counselor, who arranged the re-enlistment.

The Corps was officially established on May 15, 1942.
