From the archives: Troops in South Korea conquer the Manchu mile

Warrior Base, South Korea, April 22, 2008: Soldiers taking the opposite route encounter the command group around the halfway point of the 25-mile “Manchu Mile” hike near Warrior Base, South Korea. The event is a tradition of the 2nd Infantry Division’s 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment. It commemorates an 85-mile hike and battle by the regiment during the Chinese Boxer Rebellion in 1900.
