Hamamatsu, Japan, Mar. 23, 1956: Steve C. Masylar, one of the two teachers on Hamamatsu Air Base, helps one of his pupils solve a problem. The school, a one-room Quonset hut, serves 24 school children of the 19 American families who serve and live on Hamamatsu Air Base. Mayslar serves both as teacher and head of the school. A wooden partition separates Masylar’s area from his fellow teacher Jacqueline Adcock (not pictured), who, as Masylar, also instructs in eight grades.
