Frankfurt, Germany, Nov. 1, 1951: Actress Jane Russell, dressed in a full-length mink fur coat, is escorted through Rhein-Main airport by Maj. M. T. Pollen, military aide to U.S. High Commissioner for Occupied Germany (HICOG) John J. McCloy. McCloy’s wife, Ellen Zinsser McCloy, arranged an appointment for Ms. Russell with the German welfare agency representatives to explore the possibility of the adoption by Ms. Russell of a Germany child.
