Naples, Italy, Mar. 16, 2016: Welcome to Naples, where the first Margherita pizza was created! Opened in 1780, Pizzeria Brandi in downtown Naples, Italy, gained fame in 1889 when it created the Margherita pizza, a combination of tomatoes, cow’s milk mozzarella and basil. The pizza is named for the Italian queen who preferred it.
