Munich, Germany, August 10, 1951: The Harlem Globetrotters find a way — as always — to thwart another hapless opponent, in this case the Boston Whirlwinds. The famed basketball showmen, led by Marques Haynes and Goose Tatum, entertained thousands of fans in a tour of Europe that was notable in the number of games played outside in bad weather. “It rained 25 out of 33 days we played out of doors in France,” said Haynes, “but the show went right on.”
