Tennis

Kaiserslautern at Ramstein
Saturday

The Ramstein Royals are playing an all-Division I slate this DODEA-Europe tennis season. But even among a schedule featuring no easy weeks, this weekend presents a notable challenge.
The Raiders, in addition to being Ramstein’s closest and most intense archrival, are packed with depth and talent on the tennis courts this fall. They proved as much in their Sept. 9 season opener, sweeping every boys and girls match from the host Vilseck Falcons save for a pair of forfeits.
The Kaiserslautern girls were particularly dominant. Four of their six singles entries won without dropping a game, while the other two dropped just one apiece. All three of their doubles teams, meanwhile, won every game of their respective sweeps.
That presents a problem for a Ramstein team coming off a tough season-opening clash with Stuttgart. The Royal boys eked out a 5-4 team win while the girls won 7-2.
