American School In Japan (1-0) at Nile C. Kinnick (2-0)
When –
7 p.m. Friday.
Where – Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan.
What – Lone meeting of the season between two teams primed for a shot at the Far East Division I title, the visiting Mustangs vying for their second straight, the host Red Devils seeking their first large-schools title-game berth. ASIJ’s lone loss of the 2016 season was at home against Kinnick, 29-22 on Oct. 1. That loss helped boost the Red Devils to both the DODEA-Japan and Kanto Plain league titles – the first time the Red Devils have won both titles in one season.
Players to watch – Senior running back Jo Tsusaka rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries to help the Mustangs rally from 7-0 and 10-7 deficits to beat Yokota 34-10 last Saturday. Senior quarterback Jack Ambrosino accounted for 120 yards and a touchdown and Andrew Howe ran for 70 yards and a TD on 10 carries. … Red Devils senior quarterback Kacey Walker is 12-for-19 for 323 yards and three touchdowns passing so far this season.
