Game of the week

Kaiserslautern at Lakenheath
The Kaiserslautern Raiders had bigger plans last year than the overtime semifinal loss to Lakenheath that abruptly dashed their increasingly realistic championship hopes.
This year’s plans now include a measure of revenge against the Lancers en route to another pursuit of that elusive title.
The 2017 Raiders appear to boast the same depth of talent and elite striking ability that took the 2016 group to the cusp of a title shot. That effort ended last spring in a 2-2 regulation tie and stunning penalty-kick loss to the Lancers, who acquitted themselves well the next day in a 2-1 loss to International School of Brussels.
Kaiserslautern has already cleared one formidable hurdle this spring with a 2-1 defeat of archrival Ramstein. But so has Lakenheath, in the form of a 3-2 win in a March rematch with ISB. It’s unlikely that both the Raiders and Lancers will feel as confident leaving the pitch Friday as they did stepping onto it.
