BERLIN  — Berlin officials say a fire that broke out in a hotel in the German capital's central Potsdamer Platz is under control and no injuries have been reported.

The Mandala Hotel was evacuated after the fire broke out at about 10 a.m. Wednesday. The fire department declared it under control about two hours later.

Fire department spokesman Andreas Ohlwein told The Associated Press the fire started in a sauna on an upper floor of the 11-story building and spread rapidly to the roof level.

Around 50 firefighters battled the blaze from inside and outside the building, which has both hotel rooms and apartments.

Ohlwein says it's too early to speculate about the possible cause of the blaze.
