MANAMA, Bahrain — A U.S. sailor was hit by a car on a busy highway Tuesday and died at the scene, Bahrain police and Navy officials said.
Navy officials identified the sailor as Petty Officer 3rd Class Johnny Oliver, a master-at-arms who had reported to Naval Support Activity Bahrain five weeks ago and was currently enrolled in the Naval Security Forces Academy on base.
Bahrain police said they were investigating the accident.
“The loss of this shipmate is certainly felt within NSF and NSA, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family,” said Capt. Colin Walsh, NSA Bahrain commander.
