YOKOSUKA NAVAL BASE, Japan — The Navy Personnel Command will no longer post official messages with partial Social Security numbers, according to a Wednesday news release.

Naval administrative messages posted to the Web from 2009 and 2010, including promotion and selection board results, have been scrubbed of partial Social Security numbers, according to the release.

Earlier messages with partial Social Security numbers have been removed from the command’s public website.

The moves were made to comply with a Nov. 23 Defense Department directive to safeguard privacy, according to the release.
