Military communities stationed near select naval bases in the United States and Asia can attend more than 50 events through April 2027 as part of a new free concert series from the Navy’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation program.
The series kicks off Saturday with Fitz and The Tantrums and Alana Springsteen at Whidbey Island, Wash., according to a news release.
Some participating artists have been announced, including big names such as DJ Diesel, also known as Shaquille O’Neal, Kane Brown, Miranda Lambert, Brett Young, Parmalee, Russel Dickerson and Teddy Swims.
Through concerts and recreational events, Operation MWR is a fleet-wide effort to boost morale and strengthen the resilience of service members and their families.
“Quality of Service is about ensuring our sailors and their families have the support, connections and opportunities they need to thrive,” Vice Adm. Scott Gray, the commander of Navy Installations Command, said in a press release. “Programs like Operation MWR help reduce stress, strengthen unit and family support networks, and sustain the personal resilience Sailors need to meet demanding operational requirements.”
All eligible MWR patrons, including active-duty service members, National Guard members, reservists, registered family members, and some designated veterans, can attend the live shows, which will run through April 2027.
Concert admission is on a first-come, first-served basis, but space may be limited at some venues. Information for upcoming concerts can be found on the Navy MWR website.
