The U.S. Navy’s master jet base in Virginia is celebrating America’s 250th birthday with an exhilarating air show featuring high-profile performers and some of the world’s best aerobatic pilots.

The air show at Naval Air Station Oceana, themed “Celebrating 250 Years of America,” will take place on Sept. 19 and 20, according to a service news release. The event is free and open to the public.

It will honor the nation’s founding, its lasting legacy, and the generations of men and women who have defended it, said Capt. Rob Littman, the base’s commanding officer, according to the release.

“We are proud to bring that story of strength and determination to life at this year’s show,” Littman said.

The lineup will include the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels, the F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team, the F-35C II Lightning Demonstration Team and the Rhino Demonstration Team of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 106. The performance schedule will be announced closer to the event, and all performances are subject to change, the release said.

Attendees will also have a chance to view static displays of aircraft, engage with interactive STEM exhibits and enjoy a variety of local vendors.

More information will be available on NAS Oceana’s air show website and Facebook page.
