NAPLES, Italy — Secretary of the Navy Donald Winter will visit U.S. Navy bases in Naples on Friday and Saturday as part of a tour to meet with sailors and staff throughout the Naval Forces Europe area of operations.

Winter’s tour of naval facilities in the region began Tuesday with a trip to the African nation of Ghana. He also is spending two days aboard the USS Emory S. Land in the Gulf of Guinea. The ship is based at La Maddalena, a U.S. Navy base on the Italian island of Sardinia.

During his two-day visit in Naples, Winter will have the opportunity to meet with top Naval Forces Europe/6th Fleet leaders to discuss ongoing initiatives and programs, hear from sailors during a town hall meeting, and tour work and support facilities.
