NAVAL STATION ROTA, Spain — The Navy College Office in Rota is surveying military personnel and their families to find out what types of educational programs they want.

The base is encouraging sailors in Rota to take the short, online survey that will help the Navy College Office put together a development plan for the next three years, Director John Rizkallah said.

“We want to get as full of a picture as possible,” he said. “We want to know where they are and compare it to the services we have. … This will give us some valuable feedback.”

The survey, which began Monday and lasts until June 7, should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

Military personnel are asked a series of questions about their academic needs, goals and interests. Rizkallah said he hopes that 50 percent of the base’s 3,000 servicemembers will take part.

The Navy College Office in Rota offers academic counseling, testing and distance learning for military personnel and their families. The Rota branch also provides tuition assistance for servicemembers stationed in Northern Africa, the Middle East and across Europe, except for Italy and Greece.

The organization also oversees base college programs offered on base by stateside colleges and universities such as the University of Maryland.

Rota personnel who would like information on the survey should contact their local command or call the Navy College Office at +34 956-82-2711.
