Coast Guard rescues 2 people found adrift in Florida waters

A U.S. Coast Guard boat crew rescued two men Sunday near Elliott Key, Fla., after they drifted away from their vessel.
The men had no injuries, according to a service news release.
“We are grateful we were able to bring these mariners home safe to their families today,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Timothy Fiala, a Station Miami Beach boat crew member.
Crew members aboard the tugboat Allie B spotted two men drifting in the water without life jackets and alerted the Coast Guard, which arrived on scene around 8:10 a.m.
The men had drifted about four miles from their vessel near Caesar Creek, the Coast Guard said.
“We want to remind all mariners of the importance of having a proper life jacket for each person aboard your vessel and how it could play a critical role in saving the life of you or your loved ones,” Fiala said.
