KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – A memorial service for Army Sgt. Dick A. Lee Jr. is planned for 10 a.m. on Friday at the Mark Twain Village Chapel in Heidelberg, according to a news release from the 18th Military Police Brigade.

Lee, 31, was one of two troops who died April 26 from injuries sustained when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device in Ghazni province, Afghanistan. Also killed was Staff Sgt. Brandon F. Eggleston, 29, of Candler, N.C., who was assigned to 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Lee was stationed in Heidelberg, where he was assigned to the 529th Military Police Company, 95th Military Police Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade.

A native of Orange Park, Fla., Lee is survived by his wife and two children.
