Singaporean soldiers earned certification on the U.S. Army’s High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, or HIMARS, during nearly a month of training with American troops that concluded with live fire on the Oklahoma prairie.

Fifty members from the Army’s 75th Artillery Brigade trained alongside 110 Singapore Armed Forces troops during Daring Warrior, which ran from Aug. 29 to Sept. 22 at Fort Sill, the Army said in a Sept. 28 news release.

The 11th iteration of the exercise culminated with U.S. and Singaporean crews firing artillery systems while radar and meteorological teams provided data for the operation, the Army said.

Singaporean troops trained on the M142 HIMARS while U.S. Multiple Launch Rocket System and radar crews also participated, according to the release.

Both countries’ artillery units received Table VI certification during the exercise, the Army said.

For artillery units, Table VI is a live-fire qualification in which a three-soldier launcher crew — a launcher, chief, gunner and driver — demonstrates its ability to operate its weapon system safely and accurately.

“Both sides are rehearsing techniques that we would employ operationally,” Maj. Micah Thompson, operations officer for 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery Regiment, said in the release. “We are exposing both U.S. and Singaporean soldiers to each other’s techniques and deepening the relationship it takes to execute complex operations.”

Daring Warrior also tested the 75thField Artillery Brigade’s ability to coordinate combat operations with a foreign military, according to the Army.

Desmond Choo, Singapore’s minister of state for defense, visited Fort Sill for the Sept. 22 live-fire event.

“Exercise Daring Warrior is an extremely important exercise for the [Singapore Armed Forces],” Choo said in a Sept. 23 new release from the Singapore Ministry of Defence. “It allows us to train in realistic conditions beyond land-constrained Singapore, and allows our servicemen and servicewomen to be able to improve their professional skills by training with our U.S. counterparts.”
