AUSTIN, Texas — The 20-year-old Fort Hood soldier killed in a rollover accident Monday had arrived at the post earlier this year. Pfc. Ethan Brewer enlisted as a medic in 2025 from his hometown of Apex, N.C., according to Fort Hood officials. His awards include the Army Achievement Medal.
Brewer died Monday evening in a training accident that injured one other soldier.
“Our team is extremely saddened by the loss of Pfc. Brewer. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, loved ones, and fellow troopers,” said Col. Nathan Adkins, commander of 1st Cavalry Division Artillery Brigade. “We will remember Ethan for the soldier, teammate, and friend that he was. We are forever grateful for his commitment to serve our nation and for the impact he made on those who served alongside him.”
The accident occurred in the training area of Fort Hood and involved a Humvee modified to perform medical evacuations. The Army Combat Readiness Center, based at Fort Rucker, Ala., has deployed a team to Fort Hood to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
The second soldier involved in the accident was hospitalized and has since been released, according to Fort Hood.
One month ago, two 1st Cavalry Division soldiers died in a helicopter accident near the installation. Chief Warrant Officer 2 Deontre T. Huey and Warrant Officer Seth L. Olmstead died Aug. 12 while conducting a maintenance test flight in an AH-64E Apache helicopter. The aircraft crashed into a field in nearby Salado.
