The dignified transfer Tuesday evening for at least one soldier recently killed in the Middle East recently has been postponed, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a late Monday post on X.
The Associated Press reported that is expected to be held on Wednesday at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. The White House has not officially confirmed the date.
“I’ll be going to Dover for something that I feel is — it’s a great honor for me to do it,” President Donald Trump told reporters.
The postponement comes after the Pentagon on Monday announced the identities of two active-duty Army soldiers killed in Jordan Friday. First Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, were serving at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base when it came under Iranian attack.
On Tuesday, the Pentagon identified another fallen soldier, Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of Fayetteville, N.C., who was killed during a controlled detonation of a downed drone in Iraq while supporting overseas contingency operations. His death is under investigation.
