Army searches for Fort Bragg soldier missing for nearly 2 weeks

A search is underway for Army Spc. Sayveon Anderson, a soldier assigned to Fort Bragg, N.C., who has been missing for nearly two weeks, according to his family and the Army Criminal Investigation Division.

“The investigation is ongoing, and Army CID remains the lead investigative office,” Fort Bragg said in a statement.

The soldier’s mother, Pamela Anderson, who lives in Charlottesville, Va., told NBC affiliate WVIR-TV she last heard from her son on June 27. His command contacted her on June 29 after he failed to report for formation.

“We had hoped and prayed that he would return home within a few days, but unfortunately that has not happened,” Pamela Anderson wrote in a message shared in a Facebook group. “After continued communication with military police and his sergeants, a missing persons report has been filed, and we are now asking for the public’s help while we continue to pray for his safe return.”

Anderson, 25, graduated from Charlottesville High School in 2019 and is expecting a baby girl with his wife in August, his mother told WVIR-TV.

His mother told WNCN, the CBS affiliate for the Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville area, her son had been living in the barracks at Fort Bragg after a court issued a no-contact order following a domestic altercation with his pregnant wife earlier this year. Court records show the case was dismissed.

Anderson was arrested on June 25 at the Comfort Inn on Skibo Road in Fayetteville. He was charged with second-degree trespassing and resisting arrest after officers said he refused to leave his motel room when his payment for an additional night was declined, according to the Cumberland County District Court.

Anderson is about 5-foot-10 and 260 pounds, according to the CID missing person flyer. He has a chipped front tooth, a scar on his left arm, tattoos behind both ears and a tattoo on his upper left arm.
