The Army chief of staff has announced new assignments for several general officers in Europe and downrange.
Maj. Gen. Richard J. Sherlock, currently the special assistant to the director of operations, J-3, The Joint Staff, in Washington, D.C., will become director for plans and programs at U.S. Africa Command.
Brig. Gen. James C. Boozer Sr., assistant division commander (maneuver), 1st Armored Division, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, has been assigned as deputy commander of the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command, Alexandria, Va.
Brig. Gen. William N. Phillips, commander of Picatinny Arsenal/Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command, Picatinny Arsenel, N.J., has been appointed commander of the Joint Contracting Command, Multi-National Forces — Iraq.
Col. Edward M. Reeder Jr. has been selected for the rank of brigadier general and assignment as commander of the Combined Forces Special Operations Component Command — Afghanistan.
Col. Jess A. Scarbrough has also been selected for the rank of brigadier general and assignment as joint program executive officer for chemical and biological defense, Falls Church, Va.
