The person found dead in a burned vehicle on an Eglin Air Force Base training range last week was an airman assigned to the Florida installation, according to officials.

Senior Airman Tamera Moniq Bolden-Cleckley, 26, of Boerne, Texas, was positively identified by a service medical examiner, a statement released Saturday said.

She joined the Air Force in 2021 and served as a diagnostic imaging specialist, or radiology technician, with Eglin’s 96th Surgical Operations Squadron.

Bolden-Cleckley’s remains were discovered around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday during a routine patrol by security forces airmen near the intersection of Range Road 234 and Lewis Turner Boulevard, base officials said.

Though the intersection is outside Eglin’s main base, it is within the installation’s training range complex, officials said.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and the 96th Security Forces Squadron responded to the scene before turning the case over to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.

No details about the circumstances or cause of Bolden-Cleckley’s death have been released, according to the statement.

“Senior Airman Bolden-Cleckley was a valued member of the 96th Test Wing team, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and fellow airmen during this difficult time,” said Col. Chris Keithley, the 96th Test Wing’s commander.

Facebook commenters remembered Bolden-Cleckley as “such a bright person” and “one of the happiest people to be around.”
