Air Force removes 633rd Medical Group commander for ‘loss of confidence’

The Air Force on Tuesday relieved the top commander of the 633rd Medical Group at Joint Base Langley–Eustis in Virginia.

Col. Tracy Allen was relieved of command “after careful consideration” due to a loss of confidence in her ability to lead, the Air Force said in a statement Thursday.

The term “loss of confidence” is frequently used by the military when specific reasons are not disclosed for the removal of a commander.

Col. Michael Blowers, deputy command surgeon at Air Combat Command, has assumed responsibility of the unit until a new commander is selected, the Air Force said.

The 633rd Medical Group is an ambulatory surgical center that provides primary and specialty care services. The facility shares services and resources with McDonald Army Community Health Center, Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and the Hampton Veterans Administration Medical Center, according to the website.
