An active-duty airman was found dead Wednesday at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming, the fourth airman associated with the base to die since mid-July.
The airman, assigned to the 90th Missile Wing, was not identified and an investigation is underway, according to local radio station KGAB, citing a base news release.
The base said there is no known threat to the community.
“It is with deep sadness that we face the loss of a member of the Mighty Ninety, and on behalf of our entire team, I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the lost individual,” said the wing’s commander, Col. Terrance Holmes.
The death marks the fourth incident involving personnel from the base since mid-July.
•An airman from F.E. Warren was found dead on Sept. 30 and linked to the shooting death of a woman at Fort Collins, Colo., in what was deemed a murder-suicide.
•In August, airman Jadan Orr was charged with involuntary manslaughter after firing a rifle through a wall at an off-base apartment and killing another service member. Orr pleaded not guilty in September.
•On July 20, an airman was killed on base in an incident originally thought to be potentially due to a Sig Sauer M18 discharge. The death prompted Air Force Global Strike Command to pause use of the pistol and later implement service-wide safety inspections, but in August another airman was arrested in connection with the death.
