10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, Japan time: U.S. bases on Okinawa have entered Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness All Clear, signaling the end of the northwest Pacific’s typhoon season. The likelihood of typhoons striking Okinawa diminishes greatly at this time of year due to cooler sea surfaces surrounding the island and cooler air blowing in from the north. TCCOR 4 will be issued again on June 1, 2018, by the 18th Wing commanding officer at Kadena, who speaks in one voice for U.S. bases on Okinawa regarding tropical cyclones.
