5 p.m. Thursday, May 31, Japan time: U.S. bases on Okinawa will enter seasonal Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness 4 at midnight Thursday and remain in seasonal TCCOR 4 through Nov. 30, according to Kadena Air Base 18th Wing Weather Flight officials.

According to a message received from 18th Wing Weather Flight commanding officer Capt. Richelle B. Greer:

“Temperatures will continue to increase for the summer and the humidity will remain high, conditions which make the environment more favorable for typhoon development.

“As a result, a tropical cyclone could form at any time and could potentially impact the island within 72 hours. Please refer to the typhoon readiness guide for details on how to prepare for the typhoon season.”

Also, Kadena’s Shogun Weather Web site has moved from Shogunweather.com to a new site. Current TCCORs and readiness guides can be viewed at this site.
