Also on hand to provide instruction for baseball-playing U.S. service members in Europe were coaches Frank Crosetti and Jim Hegan of the Yankees, American League Rookie of the Year Curt Blefary of the Baltimore Orioles, and American League umpire Bill Kinnamon. Edward Charles "Whitey" Ford died October 8, 2020, at age 91.
