Kelley, left foreground, and crew members enjoy an anniversary cake marking the carrier's 25 years of service during a break from flight operations in the Tonkin Gulf. The Intrepid was commissioned in August, 1943, and saw service in World War II and Vietnam before being decommissioned in 1974. It's now a floating museum in New York City.
