Paris, November, 1951: A standard scene in many old movies has a crowd of reporters rushing from the courtroom or press conference to a bank of phones to file their bulletins. It happened in real life, too, in the days before cell phones and the Internet. Here, the phones await reporters covering a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly at the Palais de Chaillot.
