Samarra, Iraq, October, 2006: A young Iraqi girl watches as Spc. Ryan Drewry, 21, from Cincinnati, Ohio, kneels in front of a gate during a dismounted patrol through Samarra. An ongoing operation to round up suspected insurgents was one of the largest undertaken by Company C, 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, since it arrived two months earlier. Only 154 soldiers were responsible for patrolling a city with an estimated population of just under 200,000.
