Tommy Neuens at the Concussion Restoration Care Center at Camp Leatherneck in Helmand province. Carls suffered a concussion during a series of IED blasts in the Kajaki district, and although he wanted to remain with his unit, a Navy corpsman sent him to the center. “I was in denial of being injured," he admitted.
