Camp McGovern, Bosnia and Herzegovina, February, 2002: Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger draws down an M4 carbine equipped with night-vision scope and grenade launcher during a tour of bases in Bosnia. At FOB Connor, Schwarzenegger said he would tell the political elite that they need to give the military the budget it needs. "I play an action hero," he said. "You are the action heroes." A Stars and Stripes story noted that at this point, "one specialist turned to a captain and asked: "Hey, sir, is he runnin’ for somethin’?’" Schwarzenegger was elected governor of California the following year.
