©Stars and StripesJapan, May, 1963: Annie Glenn and her husband, astronaut John Glenn, take a ride on the New Tokaido Line's 120-mph bullet train. John Glenn was in Japan to assist with the communications network for the Mercury flight of L. Gordon Cooper; once the mission was over, he and his family embarked on a 12-day vacation in Japan. Annie Glenn, an advocate for people with communication disorders, died May 19, 2020 of coronavirus complications at age 100.
