RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, allows a user to be instantly notified when content is updated on a site. This is done through the publication of an RSS feed, an XML file that is updated whenever new content is added.
In order to use RSS, you'll need an RSS reader, or "aggregator." Popular web-based aggregators include Google Reader, My Yahoo! and Bloglines. RSS support is also integrated into Internet Explorer 7, or you can download a popular reader such as FeedDemon.
Once you begin using an aggregator, you simply supply it with the location of the RSS feed so it can monitor the feed and alert you when new content is posted. To subscribe to a Stars and Stripes feed, go to our RSS page and select our general feed or create one or more custom feeds.
