It's that time of year again: Entries are being taken for the 24th annual Pacificwide softball tournament scheduled for May 23-26 at Yongsan Garrison’s Lombardo Field FourPlex and Field 5. That call went out from Bennie Jackson and Area II athletics on Yongsan. The tournament is open to the first 32 men’s and 12 women’s teams that sign up and pay their $500 entry fee by May 13. Teams may carry as many as 18 players and two non-playing coaches on their rosters; if a coach plays, it counts against the player limit. Tournament rules are still being worked up and will be sent out by March 31, Jackson said. Teams must transport themselves to the tournament and are responsible for making their own billeting reservations. Space is available at the Walker Center mobility center at no cost, with priority going to out-of-country teams; Jackson must be notified about spaces needed there by April 30. Rooms at the Dragon Hill Lodge are completely booked for May 23-25, the hotel’s Web site says. The combination pool-play and double-elimination event features a men’s open and men’s intramural/company-level division and a women’s division for all comers.
