CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea – Jaylin Barmer ran six times for 90 yards and scored twice, giving him five touchdowns against Osan this season, as Humphreys blanked the Cougars 21-0 in a game conducted by running clock throughout by coaches’ agreement due to a player shortage.

Humphreys, which was playing its homecoming game, brought 19 players and Osan 15 to the game, many of whom were freshmen and who hadn’t played football before, Blackhawks coach Aaron Mundy said.

“I’ve been a coach for 21 years and I’ve never seen a game as bizarre as this one,” Mundy said, adding that injuries and ineligibility were the prime culprits in the rosters being so thin. “Each of us were trying to find players to put in.”

“It’s been a tough season for everybody,” said coach Don Tusha of the Cougars, who fell to 0-5 overall but did not commit a turnover for the first time on Tusha’s two-season watch, and also came away from the game without additional injuries. “That’s a plus for us.”

Bashr Edmonds added the Blackhawks’ other touchdown and also scored a two-point conversion.

“We appreciate Osan coming to give us a homecoming game,” Mundy said. “For two schools this small, both under 20 players, it’s hard to keep the ball rolling. We’re doing what we can.”

Osan still has an outside shot at forcing a tie for host rights to the Far East Division II title game on Nov. 7, provided the Cougars can beat two-time defending champion Daegu in its next two games, Friday at the Warriors and Oct. 30 at home.

Humphreys (3-2, 2-2 Division II) next hosts Singapore’s All-Star Falcons on Friday; kickoff is at 6 p.m.
