DEDEDO, Guam – Following a four-game mid-season losing streak, Guam High football has won two straight and now takes aim at the island playoff top seed in the league semifinals next week.

Jujuan King rushed for two touchdowns, Avery Fernandez ran for 115 yards on 23 carries, Trip Chauret had a 75-yard interception-return touchdown and Xavier Jones and T.J. Aguon each had clutch picks to boost the Panthers past Okkodo 20-12 in a Friday quarterfinal.

“Big-time players made some big-time plays tonight,” said coach Jacob Dowdell of the Panthers, now 4-4. “Our offensive line stepped up and played big. Our hats are off to Okkodo. They’re a class organization. We were just the better team tonight.”

With the win, the Panthers avenged their regular-season 21-13 loss to Okkodo on Sept. 18. Next up for Guam is Father Duenas - the top playoff seed - which eliminated No. 8 Tiyan 42-6 on Friday.
