The Lakenheath Lancers, bound for this weekend’s European Division I high school softball tournament, warmed up their bats for that event with a 12-7, 26-8 sweep of the Alconbury Dragons of Division III on Saturday.

According to Lakenheath coach Gregory Thomas, Erica Ripley, Jestenia Southerland and Mariyah Rivera each had four hits in Game 1 for Lakenheath. Ripley drove in three runs and Southerland hit a home run to back winning pitcher Alli Midthun.

Emily Luong stroked a triple in a two-for-four effort for Alconbury, which got two hits each in the nightcap from Marissa Cole and Mia Carrasco and finished its regular season 2-10. Lakenheath improved to 7-6.

In other final-week softball:

Bitburg 9-15, SHAPE 8-9: Saturday at Mons, Belgium, Erin Schwartz drove in four runs in the nightcap to lift the Barons to the sweep and a 6-6 regular-season record.

Reliever Dawn Valbuena picked up the Game 1 win and Game 2 save for winning pitcher Kaitlin King, according to SHAPE coach Susan Oltmer, whose team finished the regular campaign 3-9.

Heidelberg 16-12, Wiesbaden 11-11: Saturday at Wiesbaden, Heidelberg posted two final-inning runs to forge the sweep and end the regular season 8-8, according to Wiesbaden coach Carl Johnson.

Schweinfurt 22-11, Hohenfels 4-10: Wednesday at Hohenfels, the Razorbacks used the long ball to sweep Hohenfels.

Ashley Dowdy, who doubled twice, knocked in five runs in Game 1 to back winning pitcher Katherine Street, and Brattany Waters and Leah Rogers each drove in three runs.

Dowdy, Waters and Rogers each stroked four hits, according to Schweinfurt coach Julia Heintz. Watters clubbed two doubles and Rogers homered.

The long ball barrage was just enough in the nightcap to make a winner of Alyssa Garrido.

Rogers, who stole three bases, again was four-for-five, but the big blows came from Shadaja Gamble, two home runs and three RBIs, and Dowdy, who drove in two runs with a triple and double in three at-bats.
