HOHENFELS, Germany – Reigning Stars and Stripes football Athlete of the Year David Vidovic rushed for 297 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries Saturday to pace defending DODDS-Europe Division II champion Hohenfels to a comfortable 46-12 win over Aviano.

While senior running back Vidovic turned in his standard brilliant performance, he wasn’t the only Tiger to pierce the Saints defense.

Quarterback Clayton Pinheiro threw a touchdown pass to Gabe Penn and rushed for a second score, and AJ Day contributed a 5-yard touchdown run.

Andrew Chavez and Alex McCready contributed to the dominant defensive effort with eight tackles apiece.

On a day when hungry Division II challenger Ansbach showed its claws in a 50-8 dismantling of Bitburg, the incumbent champs sent a convincing message about their own continued ferocity. The Tigers won’t face Ansbach in the regular season; they’ll complete a three-game homestand against Naples and Bitburg, then wrap up the regular season Oct. 10 at Vicenza.
