BRUNSSUM, Netherlands – Lajuarren Burks amassed 227 all-purpose yards in the first half alone Saturday, helping the Schweinfurt Razorbacks build a 26-12 halftime lead they held onto for a 26-20 Division II-North victory over the AFNORTH Lions on Saturday.

According to AFNORTH coach Greg Blankenship, Burks returned a punt 75 yards for one Razorbacks’ score, hauled in a 64-yard TD pass for a second tally, and returned another punt 62 yards to the AFNORTH eight-yard line to set up a third score.

Linebacker Logan Mansfield stood out on defense, registering seven solo tackles to help the Razorbacks hold on for its second victory in the school’s two-year history.

Holding on involved fending off AFNORTH quarterback Daniel Cordova’s 202-yard passing performance, which produced TD throws to Oguzhan Yabici and Denzier Carnes, Blankenship reported. The Razorback defnders, however, were aided by AFNORTH penalties, which stopped three Lions’ drives into Schweinfurt territory in the fourth quarter.

Logan Harless, with nine solo tackles and two sacks; Luke Narug with eight tackles and a sack, and Ryan Patten, with six solos and three sacks, led the AFNORTH defensive charge which limited Schweinfurt to just 42 total yards in the second half.

Aldon Pagio made seven solos and picked up a sack for AFNORTH, which next takes on the Brussels Bulls of the Belgian League at home on Saturday. Schweinfurt will attempt to post its first two-game winning streak of all time when it hosts three-time defending European Division II champion Bitburg on Saturday.
