Schweinfurt edges ISB to get second win
BRUSSELS, Belgium - The visiting Schweinfurt Razorbacks erased a 20-7 third-quarter deficit and watched the International School of Brussels Raiders miss a 31-yard field goal with 10 second to play Saturday to claim a 21-20 Division II-North victory.
No details about Schweinfurt’s statistics were available at press time, according to ISB coach Will Vreugdenhil. The victory was the second of the season for the Razorbacks, who began play for the first time when the school opened in 2011.
Schweinfurt (2-3 overall, 2-2 in II-North), which is scheduled to close out the regular season this Saturday by hosting Vicenza in a non-conference game, survived two turnovers and 129 yards passing by ISB’s Marshall Kontos to chalk up the victory.
Kontos completed a 10-yard TD pass to Tim Overeem. Pearce Keesling and Fernando Torrijos added rushing touchdowns for ISB (1-4, 1-2).
Defensively, Torrijos picked off a Schweinfurt pass and made 10 tackles. Izzet Aksoman recovered a fumble and made 11 stops; Jay Adamitis also made 11 tackles, three of them behind the line of scrimmage, and forced a fumble.
ISB is scheduled to close out its regular season on Saturday with a trip to nearby SHAPE.
