Patch improves to 2-0 by downing Wiesbaden

STUTTGART, Germany - The Patch Panthers toppled the defending European D-I champions from Wiesbaden, 38-6 on Saturday behind the running of Curtis Hobson and Zac Salzwedel.

Hobson carried the ball 21 times for 139 yards and two touchdowns; Salzwedel ran 17 times for 104 yards and a TD.

Patch quarterback Jack Smith, who completed four-of-11 passes for 51 yards, also ran for two touchdowns in a game that saw the Panthers expand their 17-6 halftime lead with 21 unanswered points after intermission.

Joe Logan, who recovered a fumble, and Connor Hartzell led the defense with five tackles each for Patch, which benefited from a 23-yard first-half field goal by Henry Kazoni.

Next up for the Panthers (2-0) is a showdown Saturday at Ramstein.

Wiesbaden (1-1), which got 87 yards on just seven rushes by Dennis Ringold, next is ticketed for a Friday-night clash against visiting Vilseck.
