New names. New faces. Same result.

The two-time defending Division I champion Patch Panthers opened what might be a rebuilding year this weekend by building double-digit leads, sweeping visiting Division II rival Black Forest Academy by respective scores of 69-38 and 71-31 on Friday and Saturday.

Colin Whitten emerged as the breakout star of the new-look Panthers, whose championship roster was ravaged by graduation. Whitten went for 14 points and 11 rebounds in a Friday double-double and posted 18 points and eight boards the next day.

Patch took two distinct paths to the two victories. The home team jumped out in front early Friday, leading by double digits by the end of the first quarter and cruising to the win. The Panthers led by just one at halftime Saturday, but outscored the Falcons 38-9 in the second half.

Pablo Paradis scored a game-high 15 points for the Panthers on Friday, while Robert Braswell produced consecutive double-digit scoring efforts with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Naples 43/44, Sigonella 40/46: At Naples, Chris Moore put together a single-handed Jaguar rally and nailed a last-second game-winning three-pointer as Division III Sigonella forced a split with their Division I regional rivals.

Moore went for 30 points with nine rebounds and four steals in defeat on Friday night as the deeper Wildcats held on for a win. But the sophomore sensation evened the score the next day.

With less than two minutes remaining, Moore made a three-pointer that completed Sigonella's comeback from an eight-point deficit and tied the score. Moments later, he drove to the hoop for a basket and foul and drained the resulting free throw for a one-point Jaguar edge. After Naples answered, Moore lined up a shot in the final seconds and knocked down a three-pointer that delivered a two-point upset win for Sigonella.

Terrell Staten paced Naples on Friday with 21 points, while Ty'Rick Riggins led the Wildcats with 15 points on Saturday.

Lakenheath 50/76, Alconbury 40/52: At Alconbury, the Lancers locked in on defense to avoid a Friday night upset before blasting the Dragons on Saturday.

The Division III home team led Division I Lakenheath 38-33 entering Friday's fourth quarter, but the Lancers poured in 17 points and held Alconbury to just two to earn the comeback victory.

The Lancers unveiled a game-changing rally earlier in Saturday's rematch as Koty Bussiere went off for 18 of his game-high 22 points in the second quarter of a runaway win.

Lakenheath's Jalen Hodge was productive across the board, contributing 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals Friday and six rebounds and five assists on Saturday.

Alconbury's Joey Behr produced a gaudy 16-point, eight-rebound, eight-block stat line Friday before missing Saturday's game to injury. Wes Reddecliff scored 19 points for the Dragons in Behr's absence, and Pavel Karamshin posted a combined 29 points on the weekend.

Wiesbaden 69/64, Bitburg 35/24: At Wiesbaden, guard Isaah Negron led the Warriors to a comfortable sweep of the Barons.

Negron led all scorers with 18 points Friday. But his effort Saturday was even more prolific, featuring 20 points, 11 steals, seven assists and seven rebounds.

The deep Warriors provided plenty of support. Tim Cuthbert scored a combined 26 points on the weekend, Fabrice Niland turned in a 12-point, 13-rebound double-double Friday and Anthony Little earned one of his own Saturday with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Curtiss Wilson led Bitburg with 21 cumulative points on the weekend.

Kaiserslautern 60/58, Vilseck 45/39: At Vilseck, the Raiders dominated a Division I doubleheader.

Caleb Chastain scored 24 points on Friday and Jeremy Morgan went for 20 on Saturday to pace Kaiserslautern to a 2-0 start. Gabriel Lewis reached double figures on both occasions for Vilseck, scoring 12 points with seven rebounds Friday and notching 10 points and nine boards Saturday.

The Raiders continue their early-season Division I slate next weekend with a home set against SHAPE.

Aviano 65/50, American Overseas School of Rome 26/15: At Aviano, the host Saints used 15 players in each blowout victory.

Brandon Vigil went for a combined 21 points and Jamal Thomas totaled 20 on the weekend.

The Saints will face stiffer competition next weekend in a doubleheader with Division I Naples.
